JAMES 1:2-5
2) My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3) Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4) But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
5) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
“MY BRETHREN, COUNT IT ALL JOY WHEN YE FALL INTO DIVERS TEMPTATIONS”:
Life will give us times that are very difficult and filled with pain and hardship. This is meant to be a formative experience and it is not something that we should fear or be angry about
when it happens to us. If life seems to give you a hard time, please don’t look at it like you are being punished.
(We will always receive the consequences for our actions however, this happens in accordance with what we could understand and with the laws and wisdom of the DIVINE WORLD. The law of cause and effect is neutral.)
The trying of your faith results in patience and will form you:
FAITH: when you have to rely on something you cannot perceive. It is relatively easy to have faith and trust in GOD’s Word when life seems to be on your side. However, when things are not going your way or when you are going through a tough time, your faith is being tested. It may seem as if the circumstances are against you and that the DIVINE WORLD has forsaken you. This is the time you have to rely on your inner knowing and not on what you see or feel.
GOD IS OMNIPOTENT (ALMIGHTY) AND GOD IS GOOD. This is the simple truth. The DIVINE WORLD only wants what is good for you. So if you are experiencing a situation that is looking less than positive to you, this is a clue that your perception of the situation is off. It is especially in these times that you have to keep faith in GOD’s Word and your inner knowing, instead of trusting your perception of the situation.
PATIENCE: the sense of patience that is meant here, is one where you accept whatever the circumstances are, even if they are very difficult, and that you endure them for as long as they last without complaining about it. (You accept and endure whatever comes your way without complaining.)
Nothing can ever happen to you that the LIGHT did not allow to happen, because nothing can go against the Will of the DIVINE WORLD ( GOD is OMNIPOTENT). Accepting and enduring tough times in life, is something that is formative to your development, growth and character. It’s like being “broken” by all the hard times that the LIGHT has allowed into your life.
It’s from this state that you are rebuilt and re-formed in a way that you couldn’t receive in any other way. So even if the situation you are going through is very hard, you are getting something in return that you could not get in any other way.
In the past when people wanted to purify (extracted) gold, they would melt it. You can only see and separate the impurities in the gold, when the gold is exposed to very high temperatures. The gold melts, and the impurities become visible and can be separated. Afterwards the gold is poured into the desired form. The same principle goes for us as people, we truly get to know ourselves when we have endured some difficult times. These challenges can help us to become a better person. By being under pressure, the unresolved issues in ourselves that we were unaware of, are brought to the surface. This way, we get a chance to transform them and be formed or
reshaped by this experience.
WISDOM: in order to receive wisdom, we have to endure certain experiences. You receive wisdom through experience, not just through words. If you have lived through something yourself, you know it to be true. The bigger the challenge you have endured, the bigger the wisdom (lesson) you can receive from it.
